The Conservancy Board meets the 4th Thursday of each month with the exception of November and December. 

Please excuse all our activity in the park.  We are getting ready for two days of art, music, food and fun.  The 7th Annual Summer Shade Festival kicks off on Saturday, August 29 with the Adams Realtos 5K Run for the Park (race start time 8:00 a.m.).  The Festival opens at 10:00 a.m.

Get Ready. On Your Mark.  They're off!... for the 7th Annual Adams Realtors 5K Run for the Park.  This is the kick off event of the Summer Shade Festival that opens at 10:00 a.m. on the 29th and continues through 7:30 p.m. on Sunday the 30th.

The Adams 5K will host hundreds of runners on a course that wends its way around the park.  Visit www.active.com for early registration.

The Summer Shade Festival offers activities for children of all ages including face painting, arts/crafts, music, storytellers, bungee jumps, climbing structures and more.  Many activities are free and there is a minimal fee for others.  Activities for the smaller kids will close at 5pm while activities for older kids will stay open a bit longer.

Our 4th Installment of Corks & Forks promises to be the season's coolest ticket.  Corks & Forks is the only ticketed component of the Summer Shade Festival and we are on track to sell out.  Top chefs from across the city join with wine and craft beer purveyors to give attendees a great overview of the city's culinary arts scene.  Be there, be seen.  Also enjoy wine/ale seminars given by experts in the field.   Don't wait till the last minute to buy your tickets.  We print a set number of tickets and once they are gone, well, there's always Corks & Forks 2010.

The 7th Annual Summer Shade Fesitval is history and today we return the park to the birds and the squirrels.  Pardon us as we complete our final clean up. 

Planning begins soon for the 8th Annual Summer Shade Festival, August 28 & 29, 2010.

Each month the Conservancy hosts a work day in the park to enable volunteers - individuals and groups - to get involved in care and maintenance in the park.  On Saturday, September 5, the work day begins at 9:00 a.m. and will last until 12:00 noon.  Please join us on the traffice circle adjacent to the Cyclorama (800 Cherokee Ave, Atlanta, 30315).  Tools are provided.  For more information call 404-521-0938.

Over 200 volunteers from the Turner Companies are expected for Turner Volunteer Day on September 12.  Projects include placing new mulch on the children's playground, clean up work on Ft. Walker, working in the native shade garden and more.  2009 marks the 11th year in which the Conservancy and Turner have worked together to care for and maintain the park.
