CALL TO ARTISTS - 2011 Applications Available NOW

  

The 9th Annual Grant Park Summer Shade Festival is now accepting applications for August 27 & 28, 2011. Sponsored by the Grant Park Conservancy and a host of business supporters, the Festival is on track to continue its growth as one of Atlanta's coolest events.  The setting provides a wonderful shady backdrop for the event.

The weekend is filled with a variety of featured events including the Juried and Non Juried Artist Market, food vendors, the Adams Realtors 5K Run for the Park (Saturday morning), live performance stages, a children's fun center and our fine food and wine event - Corks & Forks.  We anticipate up to 30,000 attendees during the two day festival.  Proceeds from the event benefit the Grant Park Conservancy and its efforts to restore this historic green space.

The submission of an application does not guarantee space. A non-refundable jury fee is required.  Those selected /invited will have 15 days to submit booth fees.  The Committee meets shortly after each deadline or until allocated space is filled.  Committee decisions are final.   

Artists may apply for either the juried portion of the show or the non juried section.  The juried artists are placed in the prime festival space, are eligible for judging and cash awards and more.  The non juried section is separated from the juried section and participating artists are not eligible for awards/cash prizes.  The Festival works to promote a good flow of foot traffic in all sections of the production area. 

Selection criteria will include:  Originality - Creativity - Professionalism - Presentation - All Handmade/Original Work by the Applying Artist.

We do not allow buy/sell, co-op booths or reprentatives of multiple artists. 

We do welcome and encourage demonstrations, however, artist wishing to demonstrate the creation of their work must have permission of the Festival to do so.  There is limited electrical service available in the juried artist market. 

Applicants not accepted to the juried portion of the show will automatically be considered for the non juried section. Decisions by the judges are final.   

The complete Juried Artist Market Application Package includes:

  • Minimum of 3 slides/digital (CD) image representing work we should see exhibited at the Summer Shade Festival
  • Minimum of 1 (slide/digital (CD) image of exhibit/presentation
  • Completed Application Form
  • Signed/dated Exhibitor/Vendor Agreement
  • Signed/dated Artist/Vendor Operations Agreement
  • Check for $25 jury fee, payable: Summer Shade Festival

Upon acceptance/invitation, artists will have 15 days to submit payment for booth fees.  We work on a staggered deadline system.  We encourage artists to apply early to take advantage of the best pricing.

After March 1 but postmarked by April 15, 2011 $250 + $25 jury fee

After April 30 but postmarked by June 1, 2011  $275 + $25 jury fee

After June 1, 2011  $350 + $25 jury fee
