Food Vendor Application

Dear Food Vendor:

The 2011 Summer Shade Festival is currently accepting food vendor applications for the festival scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, August 27th and 28th. The 9th Annual Summer Shade Festival is hosted by The Grant Park Conservancy and is set along the shaded pedestrian roadways of historic Grant Park, Atlanta's oldest public park. The weekend is filled with a variety of featured events including the Artist Market, food/beverage vendors, the Adams Realtors 5K Run for the Park on Saturday morning, live music and a children's fun center. In addition, a ticketed event that features Atlanta’s top chefs and cool wines — Corks & Forks — occurs during the Festival. We anticipate up to 30,000 attendees over the two-days.  Proceeds from the festival benefit the Grant Park Conservancy and its efforts to restore this historic green space.

We ask that all food vendors provide at least one 55-gallon trash receptacle at their respective space. Festival sanitation crews will remove tied/bagged trash from the site. We also ask food vendors to encourage recycling. We strongly encourage and will give preference to food vendors who utilize compostable plates, cups, spoons, forks, knives, etc. 

All applications are reviewed and selected based on food type, space requirements, low impact, display and to ensure a balance and variety of food and beverage. We recommend you complete and submit your application at the earliest date listed below to take advantage of pricing and for the best chance to obtain space in the food market.

Fees for participation are:

  • Applications Received by 04/15/11): 

Space requirement 10x10 = $450 + electrical as needed

Space requirement 10x15 = $500 + electriclal as needed

Space requirement 10x20 = $575 + electrical as needed

Space requirement 10x30 = $650 + electrical as needed

Applications Received AFTER April 15, 2011:

          Space Requirement 10x10 = $475 + electrical as needed

          Space Requirement 10x15 = $550 + electrical as needed

          Space Requirement 10x20 = $650 + electrical as needed

          Space Requirement 10x30 = $725 + electrical as needed

If you use a tent, you may provide your own tent(s) or request a tent from the Festival ($275 weekend rental includes set up/take down, weighting, two chairs, one six foot table). Tents must be weighted on all corners to secure them in case of storm or wind.  Vendors with tents larger than 10x10 must obtain a permit from the city of Atlanta and display permit on site.

There is potable water available, however, it is somewhat distant from the vending areas.  Vendors should make provisions to transport water or bring enough water to last the weekend.  We do not allow dumping of gray water in the park.  All gray water must be removed from the premisis.  Violators will be fined and will be banned from future participation in the Summer Shade Festival.

Food vendors must also take all precaution to protect hardscape from food residues or oils.  We require a tar paper floor to prevent any residue.  Tar paper must be removed from the premisis (by the vendor) at the close of the event.  Residues left behind by any vendor will result in environmental cleanup fees and fines.  

We encourage as little on-site food preparation as possible. Any and all Fulton County Department of Health permit fees required for on-site preparation are the responsibility of the vendor. The Festival seeks to provide a park friendly and healthy food selection to attendees. We do not accept fried foods. The Festival will make every effort to minimize menu item duplication and reserves the right to alter menus of vendor. Submission of an application is not a guarantee of acceptance. Vendors selected will receive notification and invoice for all fees.  Fees are due within 30 days of the invoice date.  Failure to submit fees when due will result in cancellation of acceptance.  Vendors accepted to the Festival may cancel, in writing, by August 1 and receive a refund. The Festival will retain a $100 deposit (plus charge card processing fees if applicable) on all cancellations. Withdrawals after August 1, will forfeit all fees. There is no restriction on non alcoholic beverage sales.  All food vendors selling beverages in plastic bottles or aluminum cans must prominently post a sign encouraging the public to use recycling containers provided by the Festival.  The Festival reserves the right to change rules governing beverage sales in order to protect sponsor relationships.

Sample: If you apply by the April 15 Deadline the entry fee  for a 10x10 space is $450 + $125 for electrical hookup (if needed) + $35 per outlet. If you need electricity and one outlet = total $605. (Deposit of $100 required with application. The balance will be invoiced when vendor is accepted.)
