The Grant Park Summer Shade Festival is set along shaded pedestrian ways that were once carriageways. When horse-drawn carriages were a common mode of transportation, many came to the park for liesurely drives. The driveing lanes were named for the primiary cities of Georgia by size and length. The longest lane was named for Savannah, the next, Augusta and so on. In a salute to the 125th Birthday of the park and to recall its history, the Festival returns, in spirit and practice, to using the names of primary cities in Georgia to identify its strolling avenues. Look for the street signs at intersections to help you find your way - from Augusta Avenue to Savannah Circle to Americus Walk to Milledgeville Trail. All of our artists and vendors have assigned addresses for their location - (for example) 145 Augusta Avenue, 36 Savannah Circle, 215 Americus Walk, 331 Milledgeville Trail.
