300 Christmas Trees Recycled in Grant Park

Man with Tree on BackNearly 300 Christmas trees were recycled in Grant Park this past weekend. We were delighted by the lengths to which you went to recycle your trees, especially the lady who stuck her arms out the sunroof to hold her tree on the car, the gentleman who tied his tree to the car with strings of Christmas lights, the lady who hauled her tree INSIDE her Lexus, the couple who saved their tree from last year and brought it along with this year's tree, and the multiple folks who WALKED their trees to the park in blustery weather.

Thank you to the 5th graders from the Grant Park Charter School who volunteered, to those of you who made multiple trips hauling trees for others, and to everyone who recycled their tree rather than sending it to a landfill.

We put the trees on embankments to control erosion. They also provide habitat for wildlife. Next time you’re in the park, be sure to make the loop around the historic bandstand. The trees are on the backside of the loop and the air is redolent with their perfume.
