Renovated Grant Park Rec Center Re-opens

After major renovation work, the Grant Park Recreation Center has re-opened! Stop by to meet manager, Charles Phillips, and check out the improvements which include: 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Renovations to make the facility ADA compliant:
  • Restrooms on lower & upper levels made ADA accessible
  • Elevator added for access to 2nd level
  • New entrance that eliminates center stairs to main door
Usability renovations:
  • Restriped and refinished gym floor
  • New motorized gym bleachers
  • Warming kitchen with new appliances (freezer, refrigerator, ice maker, microwaves)
  • New wood floor and other finishes in dance hall
  • New laundry room
  • Exterior alcoves, which previously attracted unwanted activity, now enclosed as storage spaces.  
Aesthetic renovations:
  • New floors, ceilings and paint throughout; new light fixtures in select areas
  • Cleaner exterior with added exterior lights
New systems to address Life Safety, HVAC, security & usability:
  • New HVAC system
  • New fire alarm system
  • New security system
  • New doors & hardware throughout
  • Reconfigured railings, etc.
  • Dumpster pad with wash downs
  • Other miscellaneous safety and systems repairs and/or upgrades.
