In May 1883, Lemual Pratt Grant submitted a hand-written deed to city leaders which outlined the donation of 100 acres of his land to be utilized for a pulbic park for "all Atlantans". 2008 marks the 125th birthday of L.P. Grant Park and the Grant Park Conservancy is working on a series of activities to celebrate this historic landscape. Over the years, tens of millions of visitors have enjoyed its rolling topography, beautiful shade trees, spring flowers, walking trails, history and man-made amenities. You can join in the planning activities or participate in the various events that will occur during the year. What is on tap? A float in one of Atlanta's best known parades, a photo contest, a designer cake auction, the Summer Shade Festival, and more. View our "Birthday Events" page for more information.
